What Is Sky Q/ Glass?
In the UK, there are now two ways to access Sky programming. The classic way is through Sky Q, which involves using a separate Sky Q box that connects to a satellite dish. Sky Q works with your current TV, offering access to more than 300 channels in SD, HD, and Ultra HD 4K. The beauty of Sky Q is that you won’t need an active internet connection to view live TV.
Sky Glass, on the other hand, requires you to purchase a new TV, but this isn’t much of a drawback as Sky Glass IS a TV. Everything you need is integrated directly into the TV, so you don’t need a separate box or dish since everything is streamed over the internet.
For Sky Glass, you only need a broadband connection with a minimum download speed of 10Mbps, which is available in most UK properties. With Sky Glass, you can access over 140 channels in HD and Ultra HD 4K formats; however, the trade-off is that you need an internet connection, even for live TV.
Sky Glass is ideal for customers who can’t or don’t want to have a dish fitted, while Sky Q is better for customers that don’t want to be connected to the internet to view live TV, already have a dish fitted, or don’t wish to replace their TV.
